Workshop Description:
Through exploration of authentic German literature written for young people, this workshop will explore successful methods for integrating real materials into all instructional levels, K - 16. We will preview material included in the new Kinder lernen Deutsch learning packet, Max macht sich stark and excerpts from Feuerzangenbowle; parts from Die Welle, Goethe, and Klaus Kordon as focus readings for the university/AP teachers will also be discussed. Participants will then work in small groups to explore a variety of authors and share possible use of these materials in the classroom at different levels of instruction. Participants should be prepared to interact and present in the German language throughout the meeting time.
Kathy, who currently serves as the AATG's Vice-President, has kindly agreed to stay for our business meeting. You can ask her about our professional organization, discuss advocacy for your program and learn what AATG can do for you.
